About
I’m Rodaidh Mackay — a guitarist, bassist, producer and educator based in Edinburgh. I work with students of all ages, and with independent artists and bands who want honest, release-ready results.
Teaching
I’ve taught guitar and bass professionally for over a decade, including long-term peripatetic work at Clifton Hall School. Lessons are shaped around your goals — from learning songs and building technique, to improvisation, theory, and exam support.
I regularly prepare students for Trinity College London Rock & Pop and Acoustic Guitar exams (in-person or digital entry), and I’m happy to keep things purely “for fun” when that’s the best fit.
I’ve also worked with Fèis Rois and Fèis nan Gàidheal delivering Youth Music Initiative classes and guitar tuition across the Highlands and Aberdeenshire, and I’m available for tailored workshops and group sessions.
Studio & production
I support projects from early demos through to finished masters — including recording, arrangement guidance, editing, mixing and mastering. I’m used to hybrid workflows (remote and in-person), and I’ll always suggest a route that fits the music and the budget.
Background
I studied music at the University of the Highlands and Islands (BA (Hons) Applied Music). I’ve been playing guitar for over 20 years and performing live since my teens, across a wide range of venues and festival stages around the UK.
