Guitar and bass lessons that meet you where you are — and help you move forward. With over 20 years of active music experience and more than 10 years of professional teaching, I keep lessons relaxed, practical, and shaped around your goals.
What lessons can cover
I teach players of all ages and backgrounds, from complete beginners to experienced musicians who feel stuck or unfocused. Lessons are structured but relaxed — with clear feedback, and no pressure.

- Music theory explained clearly (no jargon)
Optional exams
Trinity / Rock & Pop exams are optional. Some students like the structure and external feedback, others prefer to keep it informal. Either approach is fine — we’ll pick what suits you.
Styles
Rock, indie, alternative, pop, blues — plus basics of jazz, improvisation and theory where useful. If classical guitar is your main focus, I’m probably not the right teacher.
Introductory lessons
Not every student is ready for lessons — and that’s okay. Some children (and adults) need a little more time before formal tuition clicks. That’s why I offer an introductory lesson: we get to know each other, see how it feels, and decide together if ongoing lessons make sense.
There’s no pressure to continue if it’s not the right fit.
Workshops & group tuition
I’m also available for workshops, group tuition and guitar classes. I’ve delivered group teaching and music workshops across a mix of primary, secondary and higher education settings, as well as wider youth music projects.
Sessions can be tailored around beginner guitar, ensemble skills, rhythm, songwriting, improvisation, creative projects or course-specific aims. Please get in touch to discuss format, availability and pricing.

- Southside Edinburgh — a private home-studio teaching space
- Roughly 25 minutes on foot from The Meadows, or about 30 minutes by bus from Princes Street
- Frequent buses nearby, usually every 10 minutes or so
- Free on-street parking available close by
- Guitars, amps and basic equipment available if needed
Online
- Great for flexibility and consistency
- We focus on listening, technique, exercises and songs
- Playing perfectly in time together isn’t possible, but a lot can still be gained
