Booking without surprises
Every project is a little different, but the aim is always the same: a clear plan, realistic expectations and no unexpected costs. Your written quote will confirm the arrangements that apply to your project.
Payment stages for recording projects
- 30% to book. This secures the agreed recording dates and is credited towards the total project price.
- 50% after tracking. You’ll receive a rough tracking confirmation bounce so we can check that the recorded material is complete and ready for editing and mixing. This payment is due before that next stage begins.
- 20% at final approval. This is due after the finished mix or master is approved and before full-resolution masters, stems and other final files are delivered.
The tracking confirmation bounce is an unpolished technical reference, not a first mix. Mixing-only and mastering-only projects use payment milestones suited to their scope, confirmed in the quote.
Scope, revisions and additional costs
Before booking, we’ll confirm in writing:
- What is being recorded, produced, mixed or mastered
- The files and versions you’ll receive
- The number of revisions included
- Any external room hire, travel or additional personnel
- The intended timetable and any fixed release deadline
If the scope changes or extra work becomes useful, we’ll discuss the effect on cost and timing before going ahead.
Preparing for recording
- Arrangements and performances should be as ready as possible before tracking
- Share reference tracks, demos, tempo information and any production notes in advance
- Bring personal instruments and any tone-specific equipment we have agreed to use
- Bring hearing protection for loud rooms and drum sessions
If you are unsure whether something is ready, raise it before the session. A little preparation usually saves considerable studio time.
